Coffee for a Cause: April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Did you know that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be impacted by sexual abuse by their 18th birthday? This can have a severe and lasting effect throughout their lives, and victims are often ashamed to speak about their trauma with their close family.
The Centers Against Abuse & Sexual Assault (CAASA) offers a safe place for victims of sexual assault to seek unbiased support and counselling. All services are provided free of charge, are confidential and are available to men, women and children 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
These services include a 24 hour hotline, crisis counseling and advocacy, ongoing counseling and support groups, shelter, medical and legal advocacy, school outreach and violence prevention programs, community education and information programs, and professional education.
All April, The Lantern Coffeehouse & Roastery is raising money to support this ministry that helps our community: buy 1 pound of our freshly roasted, small-batch coffees and we'll donate $1 to CAASA.
This small action can go a long way to assist those in our area who need help and support and all the money raised will go to help survivors and raise awareness to stop sexual violence.
